BEHIND THE LENS
Dixie D. Vereen is an award-winning photographer with incredible experience photographing an extensive range of subjects of and events. From photographing conflicts in war zones to the serenity in convents; from private shoots of prisoners to private shoots of U. S. Presidents; capturing the passion of chefs and their creations to capturing simple natural beauty of everyday life. Ms. Vereen’s interest in photography began as a teenager. She acquired her first 35mm camera at age 16 while living in North Carolina. As an Army Brat, travel was second nature. Having already lived in Colorado, Germany and Chicago, at age 18, she moved to New York to work for Newsday. She went on to work for the Philadelphia Inquirer before joining the innovative, founding team that started USA TODAY.
Currently Ms. Vereen is a freelance photographer and videographers the Washington, D.C. area. Her vast knowledge in photography and design makes Ms. Vereen indispensable on any photographic project.
